Digital Skills and Capacity Building Workshops

Equipping teachers, youth, and professionals with the digital skills to thrive in a connected world.

Participants learning digital skills in a workshop in northern Ghana

About this programme

Digital literacy is no longer optional — it is a prerequisite for participation in the modern economy. Yet across northern Ghana, access to digital tools and training remains severely limited. The Digital Skills and Capacity Building Workshops programme addresses this gap by delivering practical, hands-on training in digital literacy, ICT skills, and emerging technologies to the people who need them most.

The programme serves multiple audiences with tailored content. For teachers, workshops focus on integrating digital tools into classroom instruction — from basic computer literacy to using educational software and online resources. For youth and professionals, the training covers productivity software, internet research skills, digital communication, and foundational concepts in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. For entrepreneurs, sessions focus on using digital tools for business management, marketing, and financial inclusion.

Workshops are delivered in accessible community venues and partner schools, using a combination of instructor-led sessions, hands-on practice, and peer learning. The programme prioritises reaching women and girls, who face additional barriers to digital participation, and works to create learning environments where all participants feel welcomed and supported regardless of their starting level of digital confidence.

Our approach

Tailored Training Tracks

Separate workshop streams for teachers, youth, professionals, and entrepreneurs, each with content designed for the specific digital skills needs of that audience.

Hands-On Learning

Every workshop session includes practical exercises where participants apply what they are learning on real devices, building confidence through doing rather than watching.

Women and Girls Focus

Dedicated outreach and supportive learning environments designed to ensure women and girls — who face additional barriers to digital access — are fully included and empowered to participate.

Who it serves

Teachers, youth, professionals, and entrepreneursThis programme reaches a broad and diverse audience united by the need for digital skills: classroom teachers seeking to modernise their instruction, young people preparing for employment, working professionals upgrading their skills, and small business owners looking to leverage digital tools for growth.

Digital skills are economic opportunity

The global economy is increasingly digital, and the gap between those with digital skills and those without is widening rapidly. In northern Ghana, where digital infrastructure and training opportunities lag behind urban centres, equipping people with practical digital competencies is essential to ensuring that the region's youth, teachers, and professionals are not left behind. Every workshop participant who gains confidence with digital tools opens new possibilities for their education, employment, and economic independence.
